In Jeff Bezos' letter to shareholders, he reports that: There are over 70,000 entrepreneurs with sales of more than $100,000 a year selling on Amazon, and they've created over 600,000 new jobs. Top sellers on Amazon.com have been known to have sales exceeding $100 million a year, but we will be also covering smaller sellers as well to showcase the work they've done to reach $100,000 a year milestone.

Just like in the Ebay.com February 2016 report the fastest growing sellers in March were not based in the US, and are largely selling out of China. The top seller this month is COSPLAY WIG 999 by style-trends-365, selling wigs, as the name suggests. Overall we are seeing a lot of niche sellers growing like rybaanat out of Russia selling vintage postal stamps, which are able to offer unique products despite not being based in the US. Shipping and logistics have became so good that even retailers thousands of miles away are competitive with local businesses.

On the other end of the spectrum Avalanche Brands saw a decrease in sales of -18%, a substantial change in performance considering they are consistently one of the TOP 3 sellers overall. However they are not alone - River Colony Trading (previously known as ToysNGamesEtc) also suffered a -20% slow down. Both Avalanche Brands and River Colony Trading are some of the oldest, biggest and most established sellers on the Amazon.com marketplace.

One of the TOP 50 Amazon.com marketplace sellers changed their name from Juvolicious to Juvo+ on April 4th. As a fairly successful and growing seller they are trying to jump to the next level and join the biggest retailers like Avalanche Brands and etailz. They all have very similar product offerings, though Juvo+ is stronger in private labeling offering unique products.

We only just launched Ebay analysis, but we are ready to start analyzing the growth of all sellers in the marketplace. What surprised us is how many of the top sellers are not based in the USA. China and India both look very strong in the list, offering great selection and prices to buyers thousands of miles away. Ebay is still a new marketplace for us, so we are just learning about the intricate details of it - expect much more in the future as we unravel more details.

On February 24, 2016 Best Buy closed its US marketplace business. Best Buy first opened its marketplace in September 2011. There were about 100 marketplace sellers, which altogether contributed to less than 1% of sales.
